Stylez G. White is
as much a businessman as he is a football player, but began
his life at the bottom. Born into a poverty-stricken family in Newark,
NJ, Stylez,
along with 5 brothers and sisters, grew up in the face of adversity –
struggling with homelessness, and then navigating through the foster
care
system. Today, White accredits his lucrative football career to a few
good
mentors and his ability to convert frustration and hardship into
perseverance
and determination. He started the
Better Us Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3), as a way to give back and empower kids going
through
similar situations today.
The Foundation's mission is to strengthen bay area communities and improve the quality of life for underprivileged children. Funds are raised through a combination of unique signature events and private donations. The Foundation focuses its funding on programs and initiatives that provide opportunities to underserved youth.
